I want you to think about the worst thing that ever happened to you, and really think about it, like how awful it was and how it hurt you, and then I want you to reflect for a moment about what has changed in your life, and about you, since that happened. What have you learned? What have you gained? What have you let go of? What have you brought into the world? What do you understand now that you didn’t when that terrible thing happened? Then, I want you to ask yourself this question; thinking about all those lessons, and all those changes that are in your life now as a result of that terrible thing, would you give back the lessons if you could get rid of that event? For a lot of us, terrible things have happened. Most people, something terrible has happened, but out of that terrible thing came a lot of lessons. That doesn’t mean to say that the terrible thing is a good thing; it isn’t, it was bad. But you can look at it differently by being able to say that terrible thing also gave me these gifts, and I hope that brings you some comfort.
